Ricky Clifford, under his business Clifford & Co Response Services, was the winner of the Tasmanian and National safety award for his work in developing confined space rescue solutions.

Under Clifford & Co Response Services, Ricky identified that his employees were exposed to significant risk, including a potential fatality when conducting confined space rescue activities.  In order to mitigate this risk, Ricky developed individual rescue plans for all confined spaces that were identified as high risk.  As part of the initiative, he provided extensive training for all his employees in rescue practices – confined space, vertical and rope rescue.  Finally, he sourced rescue equipment, and where proprietary equipment was not already available, Ricky engaged with manufacturers to design and build purpose-built equipment.
